You arrive at the airport and your instructor greets you with a coffee or mineral. Then comes a quick theory lesson on helicopter flight and aerodynamics. You’re bubbling with anticipation and it’s time to head for the helicopter waiting on the tarmac. Before taking the controls, you inspect the helicopter. Your instructor will show you the crucial points to check before a helicopter flight. Then you climb aboard and sit in the pilot’s seat on the right. The controller gives you take-off clearance. You activate the general pitch (the collective pitch) to your left to take off. The rotor gains speed until it reaches 395 rpm for take-off. Concentration is at its peak. The adventure begins, you relax as your instructor is by your side, correcting you if necessary.
