FAQ Canoeing Depending on your group size we recommend booking a few days or even weeks in advance. The risks involved in canoeing are no higher than on the way to the place of the activity with the car, probably less. Just like driving a car, there is a certain amount of risk involved. Through highly trained staff, professional behaviour and careful selection of the best equipment, we try to reduce this risk as much as possible. (I) Slowly flowing water without obstacles or waves. Should there be so much rain that water levels rise high enough to compromise the safety of a canoeing tour, we certainly cancel the trip. In this case we will do our best to find an alternative date for you. You only need to come wearing normal clothing and shoes. We will give you all required canoeing equipment. You just need a bathing suit or similar to wear underneath this. Please bring a warm Fleece or other jumper/pullover, as well as a towel and a strap for your glasses if you have glasses (hard contact lenses are not very suitable for canoeing). In the summer sun crème is advisable. All belongings should fit into a day-size backpack. If you don't have one, please use a small bag which should close. If you require any medication please tell the guides beforehand and we can arrange to carry it for you egg asthma spray or anti allergy drugs. Depending on the region we provide all necessary equipment including a neoprene wetsuit, neoprene boots, splash jackets, life jackets, helmets and paddles. The neoprene boots we provide are the best for cold water and the most comfortable for canoeing. Don't worry, we wash them with a strong disinfectant, as well as all the other neoprene equipment.. Only if it is waterproof! Swissraft does, however, decline any responsibility for lost or damaged personal items. If you definitely want to take pictures on the raft we advise you to take a cheap, waterproof disposable camera, whose loss won't hit you so hard. On most tours there is the possibility to buy photos taken by our professional photographers. You will find the quality much superior. The canoeing trip will be under the control of a professional River Guide. They have specialised training and are issued with a licence by the Swiss Trend sport Association. In our brochure and on our website you will find the minimum ages for each activity.. Yes, this is part of the rest risk but happens very infrequently. The chance to fall out of the raft is of a similar level. Of course, in these situations you will be looked after by our professional guides. No ! Swimming ability is not totally necessary as you will have a swim vest and the wetsuit also helps you float. Swimming technique required for white-water is different anyway from a swimming pool. However, we advise non-swimmers to go on one of our beginners rivers. In any case you should let your guide know about the level of your swimming abilities before the trip. No! Basic fitness is sufficient. You will not need to be able to paddle continuously for about two hours as you get plenty of breaks to relax and enjoy the scenery! No! Canoeing is an outdoor activity to be taken seriously and requires the full concentration and reaction ability of the participants. Before and during the tour there should not be any alcoholic or hallucinogenic substances consumed. We will refuse to carry any people under such influences.
