Nautical centers in and around Switzerland
The Swissraft water sports center was the forerunner of rafting in Switzerland, notably in the Rhine Gorge, which Daniel Chézière named the Swiss Grand Canyon which has since become famous. Swissraft is proud to have carried over a million rafting passengers to date.
The first rafting trip down the Rhine in Switzerland was initiated by Daniel Chézière in 1982. He then set off in search of a new route, first discovering inn in the Engadine. Then the Simme in the Bernese Oberland and the Lütschine near Interlaken. Finally, the Sarine, straddling Gstaad-Saanenland and the Pays d’Enhaut, then the Rhône, the Visp and the Dranse de Bagnes in Valais. In neighbouring France, we raft on the Isère and Dranse rivers at Thonon les Bains near Geneva.
It was also in 1982 that the Swissraft company was born and created the discipline of whitewater swimming: hydrospeed. Swissraft is also the originator of Canyoning in Switzerland. This discipline involves discovering and descending canyons that are sometimes difficult to access without practicing canyoning. Daniel Chézière makes the first descent in Switzerland of the Viamala gorge near Thusis. Over the years, the discipline of canyoning has evolved considerably, borrowing techniques from mountaineering. Canyoning, with its jumps, abseils, slides, zip lines and swimming, is a delight for those new to the sport. We offer more than 30 courses, each with its own special features.
We also offer rafting derivatives such as Easy or Fun raftinga gentler version of rafting. But also Canoeing or Funyak also called Ducky on rivers and lakes as well as Jet boating. Jet boat on Lake Brienz; not forgetting raft building also on calm waters.
