The introductory flight begins with a brief theory lesson on helicopter flight and aerodynamics. Then you’re all off to the tarmac to join your helicopter. Passengers take their seats. As for you, you take a technical tour with your helicopter instructor.
Then it’s your turn to climb aboard and take control of the helicopter.
You ask the control tower for take-off clearance. After receiving the OK, you use your left hand to operate the general pitch and accelerate rotor rotation. Together you inspect the aircraft and the instructor shows you the crucial areas to check for a safe flight. Now you climb aboard and take your place in the right-hand seat as helicopter pilot. Your instructor takes the left-hand seat. You start up the turbine with its distinctive whistling sound, and the rotor begins to turn until it reaches 412 rpm. You then receive take-off clearance from the control tower and activate the general pitch (the collective) to slowly leave the tarmac.

The Colibri H120 is a very comfortable helicopter, with a single-turbine engine enabling it to operate at altitudes of up to 6,000 meters. On arrival at Berne-Belp airport you will be met by your instructor. Then, after a quick theory lesson on the helicopter and its piloting, you’ll join your helicopter on the tarmac. You do a technical inspection of the helicopter and your instructor shows you the key areas to check. Everything is in order, the helicopter is ready to fly and you take your place on board. Roll it! The turbine whistle is heard and the rotor begins to turn. Take-off clearance is given by the control tower. You activate the general pitch (the collective) to bring the rotor rotation to 410 rpm. and take off smoothly.
