You can’t wait to climb aboard the helicopter. Your instructor will designate your right-hand seat, which is generally the pilot’s seat in helicopters. It explains the dashboard so you can familiarize yourself with the various dials. Then the tower controller gives you take-off clearance. You gently activate the upward general step to your left to take off. The rotor speeds up to 395 rpm. Your flight begins with a hover. You carefully follow the advice of your instructor, who is at your side. He can intervene at any time on double orders.

Let two people in your circle enjoy this introduction to flying an Ecureuil H125 helicopter. Your instructor welcomes you. Then you’re off to the briefing room for a theory lesson on the helicopter and aerodynamics. Flying a helicopter is more complex than flying a plane, and requires a great deal of finesse. Particularly for take-off or hovering, you need to coordinate 4 controls simultaneously. Firstly, the collective, plus the throttle, secondly the cyclic, and finally the rudder at your feet. After this short theoretical course on piloting, you head for your helicopter on the tarmac. Your instructor invites you to inspect the helicopter with him.
