Secondly, you carry out a technical inspection of the helicopter, checking certain important mechanical parts. After this check, you settle into the pilot’s seat on the right. Your instructor sits in the left-hand seat. The control tower gives you take-off clearance. The rotor revs up to 530 rpm. Activate the general step on your left to take off. You are now hovering. Then push the control stick slightly to the left and gently depress the left rudder pedal. You make a 90-degree turn to the left on your vertical axis.
